Seizes property worth Rs 1.28 crore
A special squad of DCP Zone V, led by API Vijay Bhise apprehended seven mechanized dumpers carrying illegally excavated and stolen sand from Singardeep Ghat.
The trap was laid under the direction of DVP Neelotpal, following information received by the police about illegal transportation of sand on the night of May 24 via Neri village under the jurisdiction of New Kamptee Police Station.
Police seized property worth Rs 1.28 crore and have arrested eight drivers and cleaners and a juvenile has been held. They were produced in the court which granted Police Remand Custody for the accused till May 27.
Offence under sections 379, 414 read with 34 of IPC has been registered with Neew kamptee Police Station.
The team which carried the raid has NCP Suraj Bharti, Dinesh Yadav, Chetan Yadav and Ravindra Raut, informs a police press note.
Separate correspondence is being done with Tahasildar of KIamptee for further information and deciding penalty uunder Maharashtra Land Revenue Code and Maharashtra Land Revenue (Extraction and Removal of Minor Minerals) Rules 1968 for illegal transportation of sand.
Further investigation is in progress.
