Nag-Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce, the largest organisation representing 13 lakh traders of Vidarbha has urged finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to exclude drugs and vaccines from the ambit of GST.NVCC has sent memorandum of its suggestions to the finance minister for inclusion in the GST Council draft the meeting of which is due to be held on May 28.President of NVCC Ashwin Mehadia,secretary Ramavatar Totla and convenor of Tax Committee of NVCC Ritesh Mehta have made four suggestions to GST Council.
These suggestions apart exclusion of healthcare products, vaccines and drugs from the ambit of GST or making them extremely marginal, subsuming of multiple rates of GST, minimising GST rates, creation of appeallae tribunal and announcement of various measures to provide relief to traders during difficult times of pandemic. Ashwin Mehadia said that NVCC is hopeful that GST Council would consider these suggestions of NVCC and take positive steps to change the economy of the country.
