In order to control exorbitant charges levied by private hospitals for treatment of Covid patients, the State Government has finalized rates for treatment.
Private hospitals will not be able to charge more than what has been prescribed by the Government.
The charges for various services have been finalized as per grade of the city. Earlier the rates were the same for urban and rural hospitals.
The local civic authority, Municipal Commissioner , has been assigned the responsibility of monitoring the charges by private hospitals.
The charges are applicable for 80 percent beds reserved by the Government for Covid treatment. For the balance 20 percent beds the charges will be as per the hospital rate.
The charges for A, B and C grade cities respectively are — Isolation — Rs 4,000; 3,000 and 2,400 per day, including nursing, tests, medicine, meals.
Ventilator, ICU, isolation : Rs 9,000, 6,700 and 5,400 per day.
ICU and isolation : Rs 7,500, 5,500 and 4 500 per day..
A grade cities are Mumbai (except Bhiwandi, Vasai Virat); Pune and Nagpur (including Digdoh and Wadi).
B grade — Nashik, Aurangabad, Amravati, Bhiwandi, Solapur, Kolhapur, Vasai Virar, Malegaon, Nanded, Sangli and all district headquarters. All others in C grade.
