The retirement age of 193 officers of the state, who will retire on May 31, 2021 has been raised to one year due to the impact of vaccines in the public health department and its impact on patient care and the pandemic. As per information, in Nagpur district, about 16 officers have benefited from this decision. District civil surgeon Dr.Devendra Paturkar was due to retire on Monday. But he too benefited for the next five months.
The retirement age of medical officers and senior officers in hospitals under the Public Health Department and State Workers Insurance Scheme was raised from 58 to 60 in 2018.Now the same decision has been implemented till May 31, 2022.This due to the shortage of medical officers and senior officers, difficulties in providing timely health care to the patients, inadequate availability of medical officers as well as specialist officers.
As the third wave of infection and corona is being predicted, reasons are being given to increase the retirement age in order to control it. But the officials in Nagpur district who are benefiting from this are benefiting from this are not directly related to the patient service. They are associated with office management. And large number of health officers is unhappy as it is affecting their promotions.
