The garbage collection work was totally stopped for second day in a row in parts of city including Nehru Nagar, Satranjipura and Lakadganj zones on Monday due to strike by BVG employees. BVG employees struck work from Sunday due to non payment of salary.
According to reports, NMC administration is said to be responsible in this matter as no solution has been discussed between the company and the employees so far.
NMC has taken garbage collection system lightly. Ruling party’s role is also in doubt. About one and half years ago, AG Enviro and BVG were deployed for garbage collection work due to the pressure of ruling party. In the initial phase, an attempt was also made to suppress it when action was taken by the administration.
Meanwhile, commissioner Radhakrishnan B had given the responsibility of deputy commissioner post of solid waste manageâ°ment to Rajesh Bhagat two days ago. He was on leave on Monday. Dr Pradip Dasarwar, who has been serving on this post for long time, is retiring in July. Due to this reason, there is talk of charge shift while monsoon has arrived. The post of health officer (sanitation) was missioner Mundhe to the deputy commissioner (solid waste management).
