Nagpur Truckers Unity, under the leadership of Kukku Marwaha, President of Nagpur Truckers Unity, protested against the daily increasing diesel and petrol prices. The protest was observed all over the country today.
In city Nagpur Truckers Unity demonstrated at Lal Gowdam, Teka Naka. While addressing the truckers on the occasion Kukku Marwaha said, “Today the rate of diesel is at Rs 94.80 per litre and petrol is Rs 104.38 per litre. We transporters all over the country condemn the daily rate hike.â€
He added that despite of crude oil rate is Rs 65 per barrel, the rate should have been diesel at Rs 40 per litre and petrol at Rs 55 per litre.
“The Union Government is daily increasing the rate of fuel, which is having adverse effect not only on the transport industry, but also on the general public. The rate of all commodities are also increasing.â€
He said 15 years ago when the crude oil rate was Rs 65 per barrel diesel was at 38 and petrol at Rs 54 per litre.
He requested that Union Government must decrease the rate immediately. He also requested that petrol and diesel must be brought under the GST and subsidy on kerosene oil must be removed.
Marwaha also said that the transport industry was grappling down right from demonitisation, GST, e-way bill. From March 24, 2020 now the whole country is fighting with the pandemic of Corona. Transporters are not able to repay instalments of their vehicles. “The Government must look into the practical problems of the transport industry also. The Government must release some relief package for transport industry too,†Marwaha said.
