The different figures of Covid active cases in Nagpur provided by the District Information office and Nagpur Municipal Corporation has led to confusion among the readers.
For the last few days gap between these figures is increasing. Both the authorities, however, claim that the figures provided by them are correct.
On June 25 NMC stated that active cases reported in Nagpur are 580, while DIO reported 538. On June 26 NMC reported active cases and DIO stated 473. On June 27 NMC’s figure was 522, while that of DIO 426. On June 28 NMC reported 507, while DIO reported 396. On June 29 NMC gave a figure of 510 and DIO 402.
The cases naturally should be more reported by the DIO, as it covers entire district. While the NMC, which has jurisdiction over municipal limits only has reported cases more than DIO.
NMC PRO Manish Soni, when contacted claimed that their figures are correct. Whereas District Information officer Anil Gadekar stated figures issued by his office are authentic and collected from the office of the Civil Surgeon. The DIO figures are also posted on the national portal.
Although the other figures of deaths, tests conducted and positivity are matching, the difference is only related to number of active cases.
According to the information received Nagpur District records 19 new cases in the last 24 hours, while 138 patients recovered from the dread virus. On Tuesday, the district yet again witnessed zero deaths.
The constant zero deaths in the district is a huge sigh of relief for the administration and health workers and citizens as well. The recovery rate of the district 98.05 % and the cumulative recovery of district stand at 467725.
