Home Ministry of the state has issued guidelines for Ganesh Utsav 2021 in the State. The Ministry has requested to make public (Sarvajnik) Ganesh Utsav celebration as simple and small affair, without much crowd, considering the pandemic.
Also all Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandal will have to take permission from the local administration, which will be mandatory. Considering the seriousness of the pandemic situation, the local Municipal Corporation or other local administration must take proper measures regarding the celebration of the festival in a particular area. But it is advised to avoid big show and the make the celebration a low key affair.
Big pandals and huge decoration must be avoided. The height of the idol of Ganesh for public celebration must not exceed 4 feet, while that of home must be 2 feet only.
Instead of going for traditional idol for home people must use idols made from metals and do visarjan at home itself. Instead of cultural programme, medical awareness programme, blood donation camp etc. and other public awareness programme can be undertaken.
While organizing programme like bhajan, kirtan etc, precaution must be taken that there is less possibility of mass gathering. No procession allowed while bringing the idol for installation nor taking for visarjan.
Even it is advised that for taking darshan it must be made through digital medium like website, cable network, facebook etc.
Ganesh Mandal must make arrangement for sanitization, thermal temperature check-up etc. Though the level of restriction for break the chain of the pandemic may change from time to time, but festival celebration restrictions will remain the same, informs a communique from the Home Ministry of Maharashtra.
