A meeting to review congestion caused by inadequate parking space for vehicles in the city, was held on Monday. The problems in different parts of the city has arisen due to rise in number of vehicles in the recent past. Zone-wise discussion was held during the meeting.
Nagpur Municipal Corporation has appointed Urban Mass Transit System (UMTC) as advisor for the purpose. The parking policy of the civic authority is ready, informs a press note issued here. UMTC made a presentation for Laxmi nagar and Dharampeth zones. Information about NMC’s policy and space available for parking was given during the meeting. The parking spaces have been finalized after the survey. On 56 roads, 2874 places for four-wheelers and 13,610 for two-wheelers have been identified. Through parking charges revenue of Rs 5.58 lakh per day is likely to be generated. Every day 15,612 four-wheelers and 75,741 two-wheelers are expected to be parked.
The tenders will be floated after DPC (District Planning Committee) meeting and the facility will be created in the phased manner.
