Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out searches at 12 locations , in connection with alleged money laundering case against former Maharashtra Minister Anil Deshmukh. The search locations include residence of ACP Sanjay Patil and DCP Raju Bujbal.
The sources have stated that CBI sleuths carried out searches at ACP Patil’s residence in Mumbai and Pune and DCP Bhujbal’s residence in Mumbai and Ahmednagar. During investigation into the allegations made by former Mumbai Commissioner of Police Param Bir Singh against Deshmukh, role of several persons has come to the fore. Besides the two police officers CBI carried out searches at residence of several middlemenin Nashik, Sangli, Thane, Solapur and Osmanabad districts.
After conducting preliminary enquiry CBI had booked Deshmukh on the order of the Bombay High Court. Param Bir Singh had alleged that Deshmukh had demanded Rs 100 crore to be collected per month from bars and restaurants in Mumbai. He wrote a letter to the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray stating that Deshmukh asked API Sachin Waze to collect the amount.
Deshmukh has been charged under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 120 B (Criminal Conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code.
