The Home Department has banned taking out Mohurrum processions this year, owing to coronavirus pandemic and appealed to Muslim brethren to observe it in a simple manner.
A press note issued by the department on Monday said that it was necessary to take care of the health of the public in the background of covid-19. Different festivals and public functions were organised as low-key affair due to coronavirus. Therefore, Home Department has issued guidelines for observing Mohurrum in a simple way this year.
The processions are to be taken out on August 18 and 19 to mark Katla-ki-Raat and Yomk-e-Aashura but this time the processions will not be taken out in view of ban on social and religious functions, it added.
