Pro-Vidarbha activists intensify stir

Hundreds of workers attached to Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti staged raasta roko and jail bharo agitation in over 100 tehsils in Vidarbha on Thurday to press their demands, including formation of separate State of Vidarbha.

Ram Newle, Chief Convener and Leader of the samiti, claimed that police used force while arresting the workers, including women, during the agitation. Many workers were arrested and later released after some hours.

Newle said that as part of the agitation the workers would prevent entry of Devendra Fadnavis, Opposition Leader, and Dr Nitin Raut, Power Minister. The samiti is protesting against the government for not fulfulling the demands like separate Vidarbha, waiving of fat electrivity bills during lockdown and reducing prices of petro, diesel and gas cylinders.
