An anti-human trafficking cell will be set up under Nagpur Police Commissionerate after a notification issued by the Maharashtra Government Home Department of setting up the cells in 45 police units in the State.
It has been decided that all the districts and both police commissionerates Nagpur and Amravati will have these cells.
As per the latest decision, these cells are to be set up in 45 police units in the State. These units include a total of 13 from Vidarbha region. Apart from Nagpur City and Nagpur Rural, Amravati City, and Amravati Rural, the other units in Vidarbha where the anti-human trafficking cells are to be set up include Akola, Buldhana, Yavatmal, Washim, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Wardha, Gadchiroli, and Gondia. These cells will be set up in 11 police commissionerates and 34 districts.
The units will get a manpower of 573 from the existing posts. Each police commissionerates, will have a post of Assistant Police Inspector (API), one post of PI, two posts of Police Sub-Inspector (PSI), one post of woman PSI, and 10 other posts.
Each of the rural/district units will get a post of Sub-Divisional Police Officer/Deputy Superintendent of Police, one post each of PI, PSI, woman PSI, and eight other posts. The 45 cells will have jurisdiction comprising areas under respective police unit as well as all railway police units.
