India’s two cities has been ranked among 60 cities of the world in the list of safe cities index 2021.
The report, conducted by The Economist Intelligence Unit, compares 60 cities across 76 indicators like health, infrastructure, environmental and personal security, and ranks them accordingly.
As per the report, Mumbai ranks 50 while Delhi ranks 48 out of 60. A comparison of overall figures shows that Mumbai secured 54.4 out of 100. It ranks 53 in terms of digital security. On the other side, Mumbai ranked 44 in health security and secured the 48th spot in infrastructure security.
Both the cities have secured low ranks among other cities. Denmark’s Copenhagen managed to top the list which studied 60 countries across the globe.
In Digital security, Sydney, Singapore and Copenhagen secured the top three ranks, respectively while Los Angeles and San Francisco tied at the fourth position. Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Melbourne and Osaka were the top five cities in health security.
Hong Kong, Singapore, Copenhagen, Toronto and Tokyo were the top five cities in terms of infrastructural security. In terms of personal security, Copenhagen was the safest city, followed by Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Stockholm and Brussels. Wellington ranked first in environmental security and was followed by Toronto, Washington DC, Bogota and Milan. “The top of the table changes dramatically– with Copenhagen first overall and Toronto second – but the “first division†remains largely the same. In each of the last three iterations, Tokyo, Singapore and Osaka – always in that order – have been our index leaders. This year Copenhagen comes first, with 82.4 points out of 100, and Toronto follows close behind with 82.2†The report reads.
