Annual Regional Conference of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is being held on Saturday and Sunday at Le Meridien, opposite MIHAN flyover.
Dr Nitin Raut, In-charge Minister for Nagpur district, will inaugurate the conference tomorrow at 10 am. Justice Vijay Daga will be the guest of honour while Nagendra D Rao, President of the institute, will preside over the function.
The conference will mainly discuss professional aspects, topical interest, growth of profession in the present background, new heights, employment, providing additional services beyond corporate law etc.
This was stated by Rao while addressing a press conference held at its newly shifted office in Sai Prasad Enclave, Plot No: 164, Vivekanand Nagpur here on Friday. He said that around 100 delegates from the western region were expected to participate in the two-day conference.
Rao pointed out that there were 406 qualified members and 2600 students studying Compay Secretary course in the city. In Maharashtra, there are 48,000 members and over two lakh students all over the country. On the occasion, he also gave details about the course beginning from entrance examination to practical training and scope.
To a question on Prime Minister’s slogan on making India self-reliant, He replied that the institute was launching a programme for students from September 6, s part of the programme. The students finding difficulties in studying at homes can come to the institute where reputed Company Secretaries will make presentations and guide them.
The institute has entered into academic collaboration with 65 universities for organising seminars, joint programmes, networking, developing qualities etc. The institute has 159 study centres at small places where students can get facilities, Nagpur chapter of the institute covers whole of Vidarbha region while Maharashtra has in all 8 chapters, he added.
Rao said that the institute raised a fund of Rs 10 crore for extending financial help to members, their families suffering from coronavirus pandemic.
Devendra Deshpande, Pawan Chandak, Khushboo Pasari, Rashmi Mitkary and Tushar Pahade were present in the press conference.
