PCCF, forest officers, and employees paid tributes to martyrs on the occasion of National Forest Martyrs Day on Saturday at a function held at Van Bhavan, Civil Lines here.
P Saiprakash, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Head of Forest Force) presided over the function and laid a wreath at the memoriall in the premises. Officers Employees observed a two minutes silence to pay homage to the martyrs. There was a limited attendance owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
September 11 is known as the of sacrifice as 363 members from Bishnoi community from Khejarli village in Rajasthan had laid their lives on this day in 1738 for the protection of Khejdi trees.
