Butterflies are nature’s attractive winged jewels which play an important role in ecosystem. On the occasion of Big Butterfly Month – 2021, Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoological Park, Nagpur, Wildlife Rescue Centre, Gorewada Project, Nagpur & Wildlife Research & Training Centre, Gorewada in collaboration with the Bombay Natural History Society, Mumbai organized the Virtual tour of Butterfly Museum at BNHS.
Butterfly Man of India, Shri. Issac David Kehimkar who has retired from BNHS as Deputy Director (Natural History) guided the participants about the ecological importance of butterflies; especially the role played by butterflies as pollinators and climate change indicators.
Then Shri. Prathamesh Joshi, JRF, Natural History Collection Department, BNHS took the participants on a Virtual Tour of BNHS Butterfly Museum to show the beautifully preserved specimens of butterflies. Shri.
