Management of Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoo has shifted two tigresses and two sloth-bears (one male, one female) to National Zoological Park, New Delhi, under the exchange programme following approval by the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) on Saturday.
P B Panchbhai, Divisional Manager of the zoo, Gorewada, said that the wild animals had been handed over to Dr Abhijit Bhawal, Scientist/Veterinary Officer of National Zoological Park. The animals were caged and sent to New Delhi under the guidance of Dr Shirish Upadhyay, Dr V M Dhoot, Panchbhai and H V Madbhushi, ACF.
Gorewada zoo will get one blackbuck, sambar and barking deer in exchange from New Delhi. Dr Mayur Pawse and Dr Sayyad Bilal have gone to New Delhi for bringing the animals.
