Maharashtra Government has announced compensation to flood-affected farmers in the state. The decision was taken during the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
Minister of State for Co-operation Dada Bhuse informed media persons that Rs 10,000 per hectare will be paid to the farmers, Rs 15,000 for orchards, and Rs 25,000 per hectare to those who took multiple crops in a year.
Bhuse also stated that about 55 lakh hectares of agricultural land was affected due to heavy rains and floods since June this year.
Efforts will be made to disburse the amount before Diwali, Bhuse stated. The compensation is more than what was announced by the Centre, he added.
