Drivers, conductors and technical workers of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will go on indefinite strike from 12 am-midnight to press their main demand for merging corporation with the government so that they can get all the financial benefits like government employees.
As a result, all the ST buses all over Maharashtra will stop plying putting passengers to hardships.
Meanwhile, the ST workers staged demonstration before Ganeshpeth Main Bus Station on Saturday morning to press their demand for merger. They also wore bangles to drivers/conductors coming here from other cities/towns as to why they proceeded for Nagpur in the buses.
Talking to The Live Nagpur at the bus station, R S Wankhede of Ghat Road Bus Depot said that the leaders of ST Workers Action Committee betrayed them by calling off the stir even though the government failed to concede the demand. We allowed operation of the buses so that passengers wanting to go different places should not suffer. He appealed to passengers to take note of the strike from tomorrow. The workers would continue the agitation till the main demand is not fulfilled, he said.
