Water packed in a bottle is costly while milk is cheap and how can milkmen flourish if this is the situation. Farmers can turn to dairy development provided they earn profit, said Sunil Kedar, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, here on Saturday.
He was speaking as chief guest on ‘Opportunities for Dairy Business in Vidarbha’in the seminar organised in Agro Vision 2021 – Agriculture Exhibition here. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Surface Transport, presided over the function while Rashmi Barve, President of Nagpur Zilla Parishad, Minesh Sharm, President of the board, Tapesh Vaidya, Chairman of Agriculture & Animal Husbandry Committee, Nagpur ZP, Dr C D Mayee, President of Agro Vision Foundation, experts, members of foundation and others were present.
Kedar further said, It is necessary to increase demand of milk in the market to get reasonable rates to milk. Therefore, the National Dairy Development Board and Mother Dairy should make efforts in this regard. He added.
Kedar appreciated Gadkari for organising big event like Agro Vision. He pointed out that the efforts were being made on government level to increasing milk business.
In his address, Gadkari said that efforts were being made by the board, Mother Dairy in cooperation with the State Government for bringing adequate income to farmers involving in dairy development. He wanted that the farmers should start collecting milk in the village through Mother Dairy. Dairy business is not now on local level but increased all over the world. Big companies have entered in this business due to modern technology, he pointed out.
