Dr Nitin Raut, Guardian Minister of Nagpur and Energy Minister of Maharashtra Government has been divested of the post of Chairman of All India Congress Committee of Scheduled caste Department. The AICC has appointed Rajesh Lakhotia as Chairman of the Department with immediate effect.
Dr Raut has been in the dark clouds for some times in Maharashtra. Even the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Nana Patole has been openly making statement against him . During the ongoing winter session of the State Legislature Patole criticized Raut with reference to recovery of bills and disconnecting power connections of farmers.
Patole resigned as Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly in January this year, apparently to become a minister, preferably Energy Minister, replacing Raut.
The move did not succeed then.
With removing Dr Raut from an important portfolio of SC Department of the party, Patole appears to have taken a step forward in clipping wings of Dr Raut.
All this may appear political. But suddenly removing Dr Raut from the key position appears to be political and not administrative.
