The district administration has announced strict implementation of ban on five or more persons from 9 pm to 6 am.
It allowed functioning of shops, establishments, procession, functions, wedding ceremonies etc till 9 pm from Saturday.
A meeting of the Disaster Management Authority was held here today under the presidentship of Vimla R, the Chairman of the authority and District Collector, taking into consideration increasing cases of Omicron COVID-19. The meeting also decided to put ban on processions or rallies where it becomes difficult to control the mob.
Vimla R said the cases of Omicron are increasing rapidly all over the world. Moreover, 88 cases of Omicron COVID-19 have been registered in Maharashtra during the last week. The cases of positive patients are also increasing during the last months in the State and have touched the figure of 1000.
There is possibility of gathering of people during Christmas, wedding ceremonies, new year celebrations and other festivals is more. Therefore, Vimla R has decided to impose additional restrictions in Nagpur district by using powers under section 2 of Epidemic Prevention Act, 1897 and provisions under Disaster Management Act, 2005.
The administration allows 50 per cent attendance than the capacity till 9 pm in shops, shopping malls, cinema theatres, stage events, restaurants, hotels etc. Below 50 per cent presence of people than the capacity is allowed in social, cultural, entertainment, political, religious, funeral and other programmes till 9 pm. There could be presence of 25 per cent people in the programmes being held on open land or 25 per cent of the capacity, the order mentions.
The Collector also held an emergent meeting with Radhakrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner, and Yogesh Kumbhejkar, Chief Executive Officer, regarding health machinery. Vimla R and Kumbhejkar inspected COVID wards and arrangements in case of increasing number of patients at GMCH, IGGMCH and AIMS and gave necessary instructions to the authorities concerned.
