Nagpur Municipal Corporation has adopted a strict stand to avoid spread of Omicron variant in the city by making it mandatory for passengers arriving from abroad or from other ways to undergo corona test.
Radhakrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner, has issued an order in this regard on Monday. The order has been issued in view of the increasing cases of Omicron patients in the country.
He took a review of the activities to tackle the variant in a meeting held here today.
NMC conducts RT-PCR test for passengers coming at Nagpur Airport. An Air Arabia flight is carrying passengers to the city. Some of the passengers found affected cby corona and hence Radhakrishnan has given order for conducting the test in case of passengers arriving from different destinations. If found positive, the patient would be quarantined at MLA Hostel on behalf of the corporation. Those wanting to stay in hotel can go to Al Zam-Zam or Hotel Oriental at their own cost.
The Municipal Commissioner has appealed to the passengers to come forward on their own for undergoing the test otherwise NMC would take suitable action against rule violators.
Ram Joshi, Additional Commissioner, Pradeep Khawle, Chief Engineer, Milind Meshram, Deputy Commissioner, Dr Sanjay Chilkar, Medical Health Officer, Dr Govardhan Navkhare, Dr Vijay Joshi, Addl Medical Officer, Dr Subham Mangate and others were present in the meeting.
