Indian Institute of Management Nagpur successfully concluded the ISDSI-G Conference 2021 and 23rd Strategic Management Forum Convention on 30th December at its state-of-the-art new campus at MIHAN.
The Guest of Honor Dr C. Jayakumar (Executive Vice President & CHRO, L&T) for the joint valediction ceremony, congratulated IIM Nagpur, ISDSI-Global & Strategic Management Forum for the immense contribution to the body of knowledge in management through the hybrid events.
The international conference organized in collaboration with International Society for Data Sciences and Innovation – Global attracted works from over 1400 authors for the first time since its inception. 124 sessions spread over 30 tracks witnessed presentations by more than 800 researchers from 20 plus countries in the four-day long event.
Both the major international events held parallelly saw a vast spectrum of high-level management discussions with a renowned group of global speakers. Keynotes by eminent speakers Dr. Suresh Sethi and Ashok Jhunjhunwala were the key highlights of the event. Numerous panels of Directors, CEOs, Journal Editors, Reformation (Unnati), women entrepreneurship, managing strategies in turbulent times, etc offered the young academicians, doctoral students, and all the participants a tremendous platform to learn from accomplished academicians and industry-practitioners.
Strategic Management Forum convention also saw a record number of participants. It started with a doctoral colloquium and held 20 sessions on diverse strategic management themes over three days including a case track. More than 100 presentations were made by delegates representing 80 institutions.
In his address, Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur, highlighted the role of faculty and student leadership, intricate administrative planning and all the conference chairs – Prof. Saurabh Pandya, Prof. Atul Arun Pathak, Prof. Gunjan Tomar & Prof. Prakash Awasthy for making these largest hybrid conferences a huge success.
Five key drivers of management education – Technology & digitalization, Relevance of research, Internationalization, Idea of co-creation with corporate partnership, Social impact of B-Schools— emerged in the conference, as underlined by Secretary General ISDSI-G Dr. Ravi Kumar Jain, Director SIBM Hyderabad. He called attention to the need for reorientation from ruthless competition to reliable cooperation, from consumerism to conservatism, and from reparation to preservation.
The baton for carrying forward the activities of ISDSI-G was handed over to Dr. Atish Chattopadhyay, Director, Jagdish Sheth School of Management (JAGSoM) who will be hosting the conference in 2022.
Emphasizing the role of innovation in a disruptive world, Dr. Arunaditya Sahay, the Secretary General of SMF said “There is place for all types of innovation be it incremental, radical, modular or disruptive.â€
Dr. Sahay also announced the SMF Lifetime achievement award, which was bestowed upon the widely renowned institution builder, Dr. KRS Murthy. Dr. Murthy extolled the forum for building an accomplished team of professionals in the field of strategic management in India.
Dr. Srinivasan R. Iyengar, Director, JBIMS and Prof. Shivkumar Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, Atmiya University were honored with the SMF alumni achievement awards. The baton for hosting the next SMF convention in 2022 was handed over to Institute of Rural Management Anand. The Best Paper Awards were announced in various categories in both the Conferences. The Conference Chair ISDSI-G Prof. Gunjan Tomar mentioned that IIM Nagpur was enthused and humbled by the unparalleled response to both the conferences, in her vote of thanks.
