New electric and CNG buses would not be included in the fleet of city buses for eco-friendly transportation.
Bunty Kukde, Chairman of Transport Committee of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, issued orders to undertake tender process immediately for eco-friendly transportation. He presided over the meeting of the Transport Committee held in Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Hall in NMC here on Thursday.
The new buses would replaced the old buses. Out of 100 sanctioned buses through grants for the city under Fame – 2 scheme of the Central Government, 40 e-buses would come in the first stage. The meeting agreed to send a proposal to the Centre for purchasing remaining 60 e-buses for grants.
It has been decided to purchase 50 e-buses. Nitin Gadkari, Union Surface Transport Minister, had announced policy for eco-friendly public transportation and these buses are being purchased under it.
Nitin Sathwane, Sheshrao Gotmare, Vishakha Bante, Rupali Thakur, Rajesh Ghodpage, Rupa Rai, members, Ravindra Bhelave, Manager, Ravindra Page, Administrative Officer, Arun Piprude, Labour officer, Vinay Bharadwaj, Accounts Officer, Yogesh Lunge, Engineer, and others were present.
