Columbia Hospital, located in Dhantoli under the Dharampeth zone, was fined Rs Rs 50,000 by the Nagpur Nuisance Detection Squad (NDS) for putting bio-medical waste in the public rubbish. Dr. Praveen Gantawar, an associate medical officer at NMC, owns this institution.
The NDS prosecuted 15 businesses, shops, and lawns and fined them a total of 2.50 lakh rupees. NDS fined Jawahar Vidyarthi Griha at Law College Rs 25,000, an academy in Rajkumar Complex in Panchsheel Square Rs 15,000, Sant Ravidas Hall in Hanuman Nagar Zone Rs 25,000, Hotel Ashoka in Manish Nagar Rs 25,000, and plastic distributor Kishor in Gandhibag Zone Rs 25,000, Chopde Lawn in Mangalwari Zone, Rs 10,000 on plastic distributor Kishore in Gandhibagh Zone.
Similarly, a penalty of 25,000 was imposed on G M Thawkar in Lakadganj Zone, Rs 5,000 on Subhash Yadav for throwing dung in Asi Nagar Zone and 10,000 on L N Villa in Mangalwari Zone.
The action was taken as per order of municipal commissioner Radhakrishnan B and under the guidance of NDS head Veersen Tambe.
