Nagpur’s ace shuttler Malvika Bansod will play against World no 7 badminton star PV Sindhu on Sunday in the women’s singles final of the Syed Modi India International 2022.
Malvika (20) won the semifinal match against Anupama Updadhyaya (16) with 19-21, 21-19, 21-7 at Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium – 2 on Saturday.
Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu also reached the women’s singles final of the Syed Modi International badminton tournament after Russian opponent Evgeniya Kosetskaya retired hurt midway into their semifinal on Saturday.
Sindhu, scored 21-11 before Kosetskaya conceded the second women’s singles semifinal match. World No 7 Sindhu will face compatriot Malvika Bansod on Sunday at Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium, Lucknow.
Earlier on January 13 Bansod had defeated Saina Nehwal at India Open.
