Sitabuldi fort will not remain open for public on Republic Day (January 26) in view of precautions being taken by the administration to tackle Omicron/Covid-19. The coronavirus cases are on the rise in the city during the past couple of days.
The fort is under the control of Defence services and the officers concerned sought permission from the administration to keep it open on R-Day. However, Vijaya Bankar, Resident Deputy Collector, refused the permission to opening of the fort in view of curbs in force by the order of District Collector and report received from the Police Department.
The fort is kept open on Republic Day and Independence Day for citizens to visit it. However, taking into consideration the prevailing situation of the pandemic it will be closed on this R-Day. It may be kept open on Independence Day, depending on the pandemic situation that time.
