Activists of Kalamna Dhanyaganj Adatiya Mandal have warned that the would launch indefinite bandh for Kalamna market if the higher authorities failed to take any action against traffic officers exploiting agricultural commodities laden trucks coming to the market in the name of overloading and demanding Rs 25,000/- to Rs 30,000/-from drivers.
Rameshwar Hirudkar, Secretary of the mandal, said on Wednesday that there farmers have developed a sense of fear because of such attitude of the traffic officers. Fed up by the problems, they are now refusing to bring the commodities to the market that would give a set back to business activities. On one side the government is providing facicilities to the cultivators while on the other hand the officers are harassing the poor farmers by exploiting them.
The mandal urged the government authorities to take necessary steps immediately to provide relief to farmers.
