MLA Rvai Rana has expressed surprise over registering offence against him and his workers under Section 307 of Indian Penal Code. Splashing ink on a Government officer, is not new. Registering offence of Attempt to Murder under Section 307 is abuse of power.
Rana, who is in Delhi said that he is ready to co-operate with the investigating agency into the incident. Some women workers of Ravi Rana’s Yuva Swabhiman Party splashed ink upon Amravati Municipal Commissioner Dr Pravin Ashtikar on Wednesday.
The workers were not happy with removal of statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and its pedestal. The statue was installed by Ravi rana and his wife MP Navneet Rana. As the statue was installed without seeking formal permission from the Municipal Corporation, it was removed.
Ravi Rana said that if such offences are being registered, offence against Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut should also be registered under Section 506 of IPC (Criminal Intimidation) for threatening Devendra Fadnavis.
Rana alleged that he is being inducted in the case.
Rana also said that information about illegally amassing property by Sanjay Raut and Transport Minister Anil Parab has been collected and soon their misdeeds will come to the fore.
Meanwhile Navneet Rana has also expressed support to followers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, although she did not clearly supported the ink splashing incident.
