L. C. Wadekar, First Class Judge from Chandur Bazar Court today sentenced 2 month of rigorous imprisonment and slapped fine of Rs.25000 to Omprakash aka Bacchu Kadu, Minister of State for Education and Water Conservation for hiding information about his Mumbai based flat in the affidavit submitted to election commission along with his nomination for 2014 Assembly election. Gopal Tirmare, BJP Councilor from Chandur Bazar had lodged complaint against Bacchu Kadu at Asegaon Police Station.
Court also approved bail to Bacchu Kadu immediately after applied by him. Court also provided 30 days of period to Bacchu Kadu to challenge in the petition. Bacchu Kadu had contested the 2014 Assembly election from Achalpur Constituency.
It is mandatory for the candidates to submit property information in column A of the nomination form. But Bacchu Kadu allegedly didn’t have mentioned the flat allotted by MHADA to him at Mumbai.
Gopal Tirmare had lodged complaint regarding that at Asegaon Purna Police Station. Ajay Akhre, the then Assistant Police Inspector had submitted the chargesheet at the court after investigating the case.
While after cross examination, Judge L. C. Wadekar sentenced 2 month of rigorous imprisonment to Omprakash alais Bacchu Kadu for finding him guilty and also slapped fine of Rs.25000 to him. Bacchu Kadu himself was present at the court when judge gave the verdict.
Kadu has allotted 30 days of time period for challenging the verdict in upper court. Bacchu Kadu immediately presented bail petition which has approved by the judge.
