A team of forestmen booked a driver of National Highway Authirity of India (NHAI) for dragging the carcass of a wildboar killed in road accident, near Punyashlok Vidyalaya, Khumari, on NH 07 (44), for about 1.5 km and threw it in the jungle on Friday night.
A person made emergency call to the employees of Oriental Co Toll Naka about body of a wildboar lying on the road and for carrying it.
Somebody took video of the vehicle dragging the wild animal by tying a rope at rear side of it and made it viral. Ajinkya Bhatkar, Hon Wildlife Warden, who got it, sent to Dr Bharat Singh Hada, Dy Conservator of forest, Nagpur.
He instructed Narendra Chandewar, Asstt , Conservator of Forest, to take action against the vehicle (MH-40-7BG7138) and staff of Oriental Co Toll Naka
Accordingly, Ritesh Bhongade, Range Forest Officer, Ramtek, and staff reached toll naka on Saturday and booked driver Ganesh Bagmare (42), Resident of Wadamba, under relevant sections of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and seized the vehicle.
Bhongade along with Gajanan Shyete, Bhagyashri Rathod, Bhagwan Gomase and Umesh Sodgire.
