Despite the fact that the weather is in transition, the winter chill has returned to the city and all of Vidarbha in the last few days. On Sunday, the minimum temperature in Vidarbha dropped significantly. For the second day in a row Nagpur district was second coldest with 10.4 degrees Celsius as minimum temperature.
Nagpur recorded a minimum temperature of 10.0 degrees Celsius on Saturday, a dip of 5.1 degrees in just 24 hours. Gondia was the coldest place in Vidarbha with 9.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
With this drop in temperature, cold wave conditions have reappeared over many parts of Vidarbha.
Reason for this drop in minimum temperature can be
attributed to the dry and cold north westerly winds and clear skies.
After the passage of any weather system, minimum temperatures tend to drop due to clear skies and overnight cooling of ground.
These cold wave conditions are expected to persist over Central parts of the country for another 2 days. Thereafter, temperatures will start increasing leading to abatement of cold wave conditions, as per RMC.
