Noted environmental scientist and a Researcher Dr Tapan Chakraborti passed away this morning at his Dhantoli residence.
He was 73. Dr Chakraborti was Director of NEERI for 7 years. He was associated with numerous social, cultural, scientific and educational institutions.
He was President of Bengal Education Society, Saraswat Sabha Library and Vishwa Bangla Sammelan. He is survived by wife and daughter.
His last rites were performed at Mokshadham Ghat this afternoon. We lost an academician par excellence and an able administrator.
