The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has terminated six agencies working in the state due to an increase in complaints about metre reading. Apart from two agencies in Pune, Aurangabad, Vasai, Nanded, and Akola each have one agency suspended. It has been claimed that these agencies were reading the electricity metres incorrectly. As a result, the MSEDCL’s earing is affected.
The company’s managing director Vijay Singhal had expressed displeasure over the wrong readings by contacting all the agencies. Also, Energy Minister Nitin Raut had instructed for 100% accurate readings. Taking cognizance of the matter, an investigation of meter reading was started in the state.
In the initial investigation itself, six agencies were found guilty. These include Enterprises, (Kedgaon, Sirur), Supreme Power, Andheri (Vasai), Maharashtra Electrical, (Bhokar, Kinwat), Nandini Enterprises (Aurangabad city), and Ajinkya Mahila Bahuuddeshiya Susikshit 1 Berojgar Seva Sanstha (Akola). It is being alleged these companies were giving wrong information to MSEDCL.
