The Health Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation will launch Pulse Polio drive from February 27 to March 5 to eradicate Polio.
A meeting of Task Force, government departments and voluntary organisations was held on Wednesday at NMC HQ for making planning that no child should be left from vaccination and achieving hundred per cent vaccination under the guidance of Radhakrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner, and Ram Joshi, Addlitional Municipal Commissioner.
At the outset, Dr Mohd Sajid, Surveillance Officer, gave detailed information about the drive for implementing it all over the city. It had been directed for launching the Pulse Polio drive through co-ordination with Head Masters of various schools and anganwadis as well as contacting construction labours at various sites for administering the dose to children.
Dr Narendra Bahirwar, Medical Health Officer, wanted that the Zonal Medical Officers should implement the programme along with health workers and Asha workers all on zone levels. It is necessary to cover children while travelling by railway, buses or metro with the cooperation of concerned authorities. He asked the workers to put marks on the homes covered and on the fingers of children.
Representatives of AIPI, CGHS, Central Railway Hospital, Rotary 303 Club, ISIS Hospital, Dr Ambedkar Hospital, Children Development Project Officer, AIR, Doordarshan, Transport Department, Education Department, Metro Railway, GMCH, Sports Deptt, Tribal Development Deptt, UNICEF, UNDP, BMGF, JSI, CHAL and others participated in the meeting.
