Leaders and workers of Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress Party made charges against each other in two separate press conferences here on Monday regarding ransacking of Public Contact Office of Virendra Kukreja, Corporator from Prabhag 1, clash, manhandling women and other activities.
Addressing a press conference, Kukreja claimed that a deputation of women led by Babu Khan reached to his office with their mobile sets ready to capture video. The ransacking of office occurred when asked to switch off the mobiles along with other Congress workers. He charged that Jaripatka police registered an offence under Atrocities Act against him under the pressure by Dr Nitin Raut, Guardian Minister for Nagpur district. The son of minister, Kunal, was sitting in the police station for long time giving slogans and pressurising cops. The police failed to register FIR in Kukreja case but they wrote the complaint on paper, he added.
On the occasion, Praveen Datke, MLC, said that it was a political conspiracy to defame BJP as the NMC elections are round the corner. He demanded that the Chief Minister should suspend Dr Raut for pressurising policemen to register complaint under Atrocities Act against Kukreja by misusing power. The BJP workers would demonstrate in front of Jaripatka Police Station on Tuesday from 11 am to pres the demands, including taking back the fake case against the Corporator and taking suitable action against Congress workers for ransacking the office. If the demands are not met, the workers from each Prabhag would undertake chain fast daily in support of the demands.
