The hall of Laxminarayan Institute of Technology of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University is likely to be given for Regional Centre of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technical University (BATU).
The hall with a seating capacity of about 150, right near the entrance of this prestigious institute, has not been in use for the last few years. Earlier it was used by the RTMNU’s examination department. With the construction of the modern Pariksha Bhavan of the University, the hall is lying vacant. The condition of the hall is also not very good.
BATU has planned to start its Regional Centre. The Regional Centre is being opened for effective control over engineering colleges in the region. The State Government has proposed affiliation of all engineering colleges in Maharashtra, to BATU, Lonere in Raigad District.
For the effective functioning of the University (BATU), starting a regional centre is essential. Besides control of the University over engineering colleges, the Regional Centre will be a facility for the colleges as well.
The Director of LIT Dr Raju Mankar has confirmed that BATU authorities have seen the hall. The discussion with the higher authorities of RTMNU is in progress. Some place belonging to G S Commerce College was also seen by BATU officers.
