After a week-long hide-and-seek game, team of Wildlife Crime Control Bureau and forestmen finally became successful in nabbing three persons while selling Skin of leopard here on Sunday.
On a tip-off, the bureau members and forestmen a laid trap at Mihan nut the accused always changed the place for the last one week.
Forest Department also sent a decoy who discussed about price of the skin. However, today forestmen laid a trap at Shri Jai Umiya Roadlines Shop in Kapsi–Khurd on Bhandara road.
They made the deal and arrested Sanjay Damrudhar Behera (42), Naresh Tejram Darode (48), both residents of Nagpur, and seized leopard skin 4 ft in length and 1.5.ft wide from them. Upon interrogation, they informed the name of third accused. Later forestmen also arrested Praveen Shriram Lanjewar (41) in the city.
Forestmen registered an offence under relevant sections of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. The raid was carried under the guidance of Yuvraj, CCF, Dr Bharat Singh Hada, DCF, Pritam Singh Kodape, DFO, by N G Chandewar, ACF, L R Thokal RFO, S B Kekan, Forester, and others. Further investigation is underway.
