A number of art lovers gathered at the stalls of handicraft items, took keen interest and purchased various attractive materisls on the fourth day of 28 th Orange City Craft Mela organised by South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC) in its premises in Ciivil Lines on Monday.
They purchased various items such as handicraft, carpet, glass art, terracota, Chanderi saree, metal craft, Paithani saree, Banarasi saree, jute craft, khurja, Punjabi juti, pottery, wooden craft, khadi, kamalkari printing, puppet, leather, furniture, jari works, khurja and others. Similarly, the citizens also took interest in food zone and enjoyed eatables.
The programme of folk dances began at 6.30 pm with Pounima Chavan and group presenting Ganesh Vandana. Later Satyapira Palai and troupe, Odisha, Pama Shri Radheshyam Barle and group, Chhattisgarh, Padma Shri Ramsahay Pande group, Madhya Pradesh, Prakash Bishta group, Uttarakhand, Giriraj group, Assam, Pounima Chavan and group, Mumbai, and Shivnarayan group from Rajasthan presented impressive folk dances and received repeated clappings from the audience. Dipak Kulkarni, Assistant Director, SCZCC, compered the programme.
On March 16, transgender artists will present dances for the first time ubder the guidance of Shraddha Joshi. The organisers want to bring them in the main stream. Then diabled students from SVK Education Society will participate in the fashion show. Manisha Patrikar and students from Mumbai will present Katthak dances followed by mimicry by Sangita Tekade.
