The application of Maharashtra Minorities Minister Nawab Malik has been rejected by the Bombay High Court. Malik had appealed for his illegal arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in Money laundering and purchase of property case.
Malik has alleged that the arrest is political and the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2005) was not in existence when the property deal was finalized.
He also alleged misuse of central agencies by the Government at the Centre. Malik had moved the petition under provisions of Haebeus Corpus. But was rejected by the High Court.
Malik has an option to move the bail application under the regular provisions. He is in the judicial custody after the ED arrested him for entering a property deal with persons connected with the Dawood Gang.
