Ansh Nerurkar, Mumbai, Leads in Boys Group and Shreya Hipparagi, Sangli leads in Girls Group with Five Points after Five rounds of Maharashtra State Under 12 Open and Girls Chess Championship currently in progress at G H Raisoni Institute of Engineering & technology College, Shraddha park, Near MIDC Police Station, Hingna- Wadi Link Road Nagpur.
Earlier the Chess Championship was inaugurated at the hands Girish Vyas, Ex-MLC and Vice President, Maharashtra Chess Association. The Championship is organized by Chess Association Nagpur in Association Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation and G H Raisoni Sports and Cultural foundation.
The Prizes of the event are sponsored by “Dinshawsâ€. The other dignitaries who graced the occasion included Dr. Mrunal Naik, Project Head, Raisoni Group, Adv. Nishant Gandhi, President, Chess Association, Nagpur (CAN).
Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary of CAN and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation, S.S.Soman, Working President, CAN & Tournament Committee Member of MCA and Ajinkya Pingale, Chief Arbiter of the Championship were present on the occasion.
The tournament is an official selection event for selection of Maharashtra Chess Players for participation in the National Under-12 (Open and Girls) Chess Championship to be held later this year. Total 120 players have registered for Boys Group out of which 46 are FIDE Rated players. Girls group attracted 46 entries out of which 14 players are FIDE Rated.
A recognized team of arbiters headed by Chief Arbiter Mr. Ajinkya Pingale from Mumbai, Deputy Arbiter SNA Sheetal Panbude, IA Pravin Pantawane, NA Amit Temburne, Amit Bhongare, Prayas Ambade, Swati kumbhalkar, Prathamesh Machave, Gayatri panbude, Vikas bhave, Shyam agrawal, Priti mundada are taking care of the event. A Coordination Team of Raisoni College consisting of Vikrant Chole, Akshat Soni, Mansi Munnarwar, Omkar Chavan, Pratik Raut, Ashwin Tijare, Pooja Nimje are taking care of necessary arrangements. Organising Team under the Chairmanship of Nishant Gandhi, President, Chess Association, Nagpur, Bhushan Shriwas, Organising Secretary, S. S. Soman, Member of Organising Committee and officials of Chess Association Nagpur, Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation and G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation are working hard for the successful organization of the event.
The initial rounds saw some upsetting results when the Top seed in Boys Group Manas Sumukh Gaikwad of Solapur was held to a draw by Arush Chitre from Nagpur. Top Seed in Girls Group Trisha Jagtap of Mumbai was held to a draw in the First Round by Dnynada Gawande of Aurangabad. Trisha was toppled in the Third round by Vedika Pal from Nagpur. Shraddha Bajaj of Nagpur is having a great run as she won against Third Seed Pratiti Khandelwal of Pune in third round on Top Board.
