The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Nagpur issued a directive on Monday ordering app-based aggregators not to run motorbike-taxi services, calling them illegal.
In Nagpur, certain app-based aggregators offer biketaxi services. According to a press release from RTO Nagpur, officials have taken action against such services. After auto-rickshaw unions objected the motorbike taxis, the action was taken.
The RTO remarked, “The State Government or RTO has not yet approved any licence to run such services in Maharashtra,” and urged citizens not to travel in motorcycle taxis. RTO warned that companies that promote the service would face severe consequences.
