Neither any changes in vehicular traffic nor diversion of vehicles have been made for the marathon to be held on March 27 from 5.30 am to 9 am. However, rights have been delegated to police officers on duty for stopping the traffic for a limited time to avoid inconvenience to participants in the race, said Sarang Awad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
He appealed to citizens to make proper planning for moving out on the vehicles after taking into consideration the marathon route. The traffic will be slow during the period of this programme.
The marathon has been organised by Lokmat Group of Newspapers in the categories of 21, 10, 5, 3 km.
Following are the routes for the marathon: 21 km race – Kasturchand Park, Samvidhan Chowk, Kannamwar Chowk, AIR square, VCA chowk, Sadar Police Station, Japanees Garden, Raj Bhavan rear gate, Centre Point School, Balodyan, TV tower, Vasuden Nagar, Futala lake/Banyan tree, again Futala Y-point, Telangkhedi Hanuman Mandir, Mother Dairy, WCL building, Telangkhedi Hanuman Mandir, Futala Y-point, Vayusena Nagar and back to Kasturchand park from the same route, for 10 km race – Kasturchand Park, Samvidhan Chowk, Kannamwar Chowk, AIR square, VCA chowk, Sadar Police Station, Japanees Garden, Raj Bhavan rear gate, Centre Point School, TV tower, back to Centre Point School and to Kasturchand park same way.
