To clear up any misunderstandings on summer vacations, the State Education Department has issued an order proclaiming that summer vacations would begin on May 2 in all State schools.
The schools will begin in the State on June 13th, with the exception of the Vidarbha area. The new academic term in Vidarbha will begin on June 27.
Summer vacation days have been cut, but they will be compensated during Ganeshotsav or Christmas vacations. In addition, schools have been urged to reduce their activities on the days of the Diwali holidays.
After planning the holiday schedule, it will be necessary for the schools to get the approval of the primary or secondary education officer before implementing it.
Citing Rule 52.2 of the Secondary School Code, the education department has told the schools that they should not have more than 76 days off in the entire academic year.
Earlier, there was confusion over the summer vacation of schools after the State government had issued a circular on March 24.
The schools were assuming that classes will be held till the last week of April and a new academic session will start after a few days off.
