A fire broke out in Ambazari Biodiversity Park in about 20 hectares of area that gutted precious trees and grass on Sunday evening.
Ashish Ninawe, Range Forest Officer, Ambazari, said that the workers of adjoining Madhav Netralya burnt medical waste materials and garbage and the flames entered in the park around 4.30 pm.
As a precautionary measure, field staff members tried to extinguish the fire with the help of air blowers. Meanwhile, forest officials contacted Fire Brigade seeking help.
Three fire tenders reached the spot immediately and doused the fire by 7.30 pm. The officials could not tell about exact damages caused in the park as they were busy in extinguishing the fire in the poor light.
