With the mercury soaring up in Nagpur city, volunteers of Green & Clean Foundation has taken up a noble cause of providing water to birds by installing earthen pots at the trees to quench their thirst in the scorching summer heat.
The workers under the leadership of founder Sandeep Mankar visited Maharajbag, Ramdaspeth, Dhantoli gardens, Patrakar Colony garden and NIT Shankar Nagar garden and fixed 120 earthen pots at different trees thereon Sunday. The responsibility of putting water in the pots regularly has been taken by morning/evening walkers and persons coming in these gardens for exercise.
While talking to The Live Nagpur on Monday, Mankar said, the birds have to search for water in this pinching period of summer. The temperature in the city has already crossed 40/41 degrees Celsius and it is likely that it would go or even cross 45 degrees C in the near future. Therefore, the workers have launched this venture in order to protect and conserve the birds. He appealed to the citizens that they should pour water in such pots if they come across anywhere.
