Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli isn’t having a great Indian Premier League (IPL) season with the bat.
He is yet to score a fifty in IPL 2022 despite crossing the 40-run mark twice. Even in the game against the Delhi Capitals, he got run-out while looking for a close run and could only muster 12 runs. However, Kohli made sure he made an impact in the game by plucking a stunning catch to turn the game on its head.
Chasing 190, the Capitals had their skipper Rishabh Pant in the middle going berserk. The southpaw had taken apart Wanindu Hasaranga in the 16th over to bring the equation and began the 17th over brilliantly as well smacking 8 runs off the first two balls off Mohammed Siraj. With 48 needed off 22 balls, the target seemed within reach for DC. But their hopes shattered off the third ball itself thanks to Virat Kohli.
Siraj delivered a friendly full toss which Rishabh Pant sliced towards cover and timed it decently. The ball was traveling over the head of the covers fielder Kohli. But the former India skipper had other ideas as he timed his jump perfectly and put one hand up to get hold of the ball. It happened in a split second and Virat Kohli was completely in the air while completing the catch. It was a one-handed blinder from him that proved the last nail in the coffin for DC in terms of chasing down the total.
Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma was also present in the stands who watched her cricketer husband take a stunner on the field. The 33-year-old also had one eye on his wife and he looked at her to show the ‘V’ sign after taking the catch.
