Subhash Chaudhari, Vice-Chancellor of RTM Nagpur University, and Radhkrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner, inaugurated tree plantation programme by planting saplings in the land spread in the premises of Jamnalal Bajaj Administrative Building ot Nagpur University here on Saturday.
Nagpur Municipal Corporation has chalked out a plan to develop green cover at the sprawling premises of the building. It has received Rs 2.14 crore from 15th Finance Commission for improvement of air quality in the city. It will undertake massive tree plantation programme on 15 acres of this land belonging to the university.
Radhakrishnan inspected the land and instructed the administration to make water arrangement at the place to provide water to the plants. NMC has a plan to develop 8,000 shady and fruit-bearing trees and other species. After growth of the trees on the barren land, various birds would also make their habitats at this place.
Dipak Kumar Meena, Addl Municipal Commissioner, Sanjay Dudhe, Pro-VC, Raju Hiwase, Registrar, Ravindra Bhelawe, Deputy Commissioner, Amol Chaurpagar, Garden Superintendent, Dr Vijay Khandar, Dr Sanjay Kavishwar, Dr Dattatray Watmode, Dr Rajashri Vishnav and others were present.
